Mom is still continuing to improve daily. She had a rigorous schedule with Physical Therapy TWICE today, Occupational Therapy TWICE and forty-five whole minutes of Speech Therapy. What started two weeks ago as a few steps has turned into walking the distance of two and a half football fields and much more intense activities. All the activities are trying to retrain her to do things that we take for granted, and do so naturally. Needless to say, she is pooped! Dad met with the case manager again yesterday and she was able to show him where Mom's team can identify definite gains, which is encouraging. It is also extra sunshine in our day when people who have not seen her for a few days come by and can't believe her progress. I think it is sort of like watching a baby grow.....when you are with them everyday you don't notice as much as if you are away for a few days.
Mom and I were talking today that God still has His Hand in this, and even now we can already see blessings. One of the biggest blessings is that we have all got to experience the power of prayer first hand! I just can't imagine going through something like this and having to watch someone you love so dearly have to endure this, if we didn't believe there is a Master Physician who is in complete control with a Plan.....God! Another blessing that we recognize is the glad reunions! We have been reconnected with dear friends from all of our lives. Some are people that Mom and Dad knew growing up, some are friends from when they were newly weds, others are special people that have been friends for many years that we just don't get to keep in touch with because life gets in the way. All of you have been a blessing to us, whether you know it or not.
While visiting with some of you, you have asked, so how many Corn kids are there, or how is Mrs. Corn the good 'ol Bovina High School Teacher, or Mom's favorite, tell us more about your grandkids:>)? So if you are interested, here is the short rundown of the our family. If not, check back tomorrow, as I am sure we will have more exciting news about Mom's ongoing miraculous progress sometime real soon! Thank you again for your continued words of encouragement, prayers and visits. Please keep them coming/ multiplying!
Love and Happy New Year to all! Christi

I just love you Corn kids and your uniqueness. It is so good to see you all and your precious families. I know it must be hard on Gwen to have you kids minister to her...but is even more amazing to see how God ministers to us especially during this time of her healing. God is so BIG and so powerful!! Happy New Year and we will continue to keep tabs on all of you. Love to each one of you.

Dear Gwen....My name is Linda Stuart. A friend of yours 'angels on earth 'Gayle' and her sister get full credit for our paths now crossing. Never, did I dream after I suffered a Stroke, six years ago, January 7th - One year after I had the stroke I would and always will refer to it as a "Stroke" of Good Luck" 100% Fully Recovered nine months after experiencing a stroke. 'Humbled by the attention' The National and Local media has and continues to Feature my story as an Inspirational and Motivational Stroke Survivor. American Heart Association/American Stroke Association - StrokeSmart - General Mills Cereals - Newspapers - television - Magazines and more - Share my story of DESPERATION to regain my Speech, Physical mobility, endurance, balance. The physical, Speech and Occupational theraphy were not producing the results for me 'fast enough' to allow me to resume my life. My career as the president of a consulting firm as well as the active personal life I had led up to the Stroke - came to a complete HALT, January 7, 2003. One evening, tearfully after a frustrating day of theraphy/s - being depleted of all emotional, physical and mental energy - I glanced over at my music collection representing every decade from Glen Miller to Justin Timberlake and coupled with the fact I have moved/exercised/danced all of my life. I thought "Maybe if I could feel the way I felt prior to the Stroke - Maybe it would unlock something inside of me". Tricking my mind and body was the key. Sitting, Standing, Trotting, Jogging - one tiny movement at a time along with my music - I progressed - the variety of music forced me to sing along naturally forcing words and complete sentences and distracted me mentally from the pain my body was experiencing from the exercise. My 'life line' prayer from that moment on was - promising GOD and myself I would show my eternal thanks and appreciation for fully recovering out of the Stroke. By rewarding myself with my childhood dream of being a dance teacher. Just 'one class'to give thanks and to make myself BELIEVE I had come through such a horrific experience. I would have a fun, modified movement/class - where I would use every movement and play a mix of all the music I had played through my own rehabilation. The 'one class' has turned out to be hundreds of class/s since September 4, 2003. My web site www.aerobicboogie.com shares in-depth my struggles and recovery as well as joyful photos testimonials and more. Although I still do my consulting on a limited basis which assists clients with achieving their professional goals. Now the focus of my career for the past five years has/is assisting others feel better who are recovering from major health issues to just wanting to improve the quality of their life - confined to a bed or Joging' Group class/s or private sessions. The 'one class' has taken on a life of its own Aerobic Boogie(R)Boogie Aerobics(R)the FUN way to EXERCISE!(TM)is more than I could ever have dreamed - while I was experiencing a nightmare. As I laid in the emergency room bed - being diagonsed with a Basil Ganglia stroke. How was I ever going to make it through this ordeal-living by myself-no family. Sole support of myself. The reality, challenges were over whelming to me. We never know why somethings happen - Yet,GOD always has a plan. The plan weaved itself from a nightmare into a dream for me - as it will for you! By the BEAUTIFUL photos and the heartwarming, sincere thoughts your entire family and friends have posted - I would guess Gwen, you knew prior to your Stroke how much you are dearly loved, admired, respected, supported by all your family and friends - but just incase you did not know the depth of their hearts and souls. You do now! Your progress and frustrations are shared by every one who cares about you. Good day/Bad days - every day in tiny little steps you will improve - you have so many 'hearts' who are supporting and rooting for you - including me! Gwen, any time you are up to a visit from me - I would be delighted to visit or if you would like to contact me anytime (480)767-9734 please feel free to do so. You will be in my thoughts and prayers - and one day you will be sharing your Stroke story with someone who has experienced a Stroke and you will say to them "You are going to make it through this - I did it so will you"
Giant Hug From Me To You....Linda
Corn family... I am so glad you put the info about all the Corn kids (adults), We try to keep up with all of you through either Gwen or Loy. Getting to see ya'll at the hospital was great (except for the reason we were there). We missed getting to see Charla. I am really glad to hear of all the progress Gwen is making. We continue to pray for her and all the family.
We Love you Guys!
Rex, Connie, and Amy Cumpton
Gwen:
I hope I didn't overstep my bounds by sharing your story with Linda. My sister Alice who lives in Phoenix had heard Linda's story on the news out there. Hope things are progressing....NEW YEAR NEW BEGINNING!!! Love ya and God Bless you,
Gaye (AKA GAYLE)
Happy New Year to our "other family"!! We so miss spending time with you guys! We decided to wait to come visit when Rick could come which will be a couple of weeks. He has been covering for all the people on vacation but wants to come have some "Big Ed" time while I have some Gwen time. I know this was an unusual Christmas and New Year for all of you, but a very special one, for sure! I remember the first Christmas we spent here without our Corns - it was an experience of tears and change, but made all those years of memories all the more special! We are keeping up with the progress thanks to you guys and Lloyd and Brenda. Know we love you all so very much and will be there in a couple of weeks to have some needed "Corn" time! We love you so much!

Gwen and the Corns,
We missed you so very much at Josh's wedding and at our family celebration yesterday at my house.
We were so glad that Clay and Melissa got to join us here, but it just wasn't the same without the rest of your family. A pecan pie from me is on the way to you by way of Loy and Joe.
Thank you to Linda for sharing her story of hope with us all. It was sure an encouragement for me to hear it as I know it must be for you, Ed, and the kids. I have always admired you for your strength and perseverance. Thanks for being a great role model for me through the years. You are a wonderful "big sister". Linda, I thought it interesting that you mentioned September 4 as when you started your first class. September 4 is Gwen's birthday.
I don't know when I'll be able to make another trip up to see you, but please know that I check on you everyday via this Blog and talk to Christi or Clay from time to time.
I wish you all a Happy New Year! I think of you and pray for you continually. I love you.
LaNelle
