First, I appreciate all the expressions of concern everyone has shown. Friends and family have rallied around us and Gwen and I feel it every day. I'm sure we will never be able to thank everyone but we both notice all the the calls, cards, and responses on the blog.
Gwen is making great progress in rehab, but there are mountains yet to climb. There are issues with her speech, her balance, and her vision. Most of the time it's the same ol' Gwen. but there are those times when there are tiny things missing. We're confident that she will recover for the most part, the question is how long. Last week we were told, six more weeks here in BSA Rehab. I can sense some frustration from her that she doesn't let the kids see. Most of the time Gwen is upbeat and a trooper, and Lord knows she has a lot to motivate her.
We've been blessed with four great kids who know Gigi is the soul of the family. The kids. their spouses, and the grandkids have been a blessing through all this. Their encouragement has given her every reason to try a little harder and focus on improving.
Most of all, thanks, she's doing better, but this deal isn't over by a long shot. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Hello Gwen, Ed, & all the rest of the Corns. I am glad to hear that progress is still being made, and that you all had a good Christmas.
Just a word about Sleep Apnea. They discovered mine is 2002, right after I moved to Lubbock. I have been sleeping under a CPAP (continuous pressurized air) machine since then. They think I have had it all my life, inherited from the Stephens family. They say it puts a tremendous strain on the heart, and I have a heart murmur caused by it. And yes, it can increase the likelyhood of a stroke. You should know it runs in the Stephens family. Minnie Kathleen has it. My dad, Morris Stephens, had it as did my granddad, Joe Stephens. Neither of them was ever treated for it. There are others - you might talk to Minnie Kathleen about who, because it can be inherited, and she might know more about it. Treatment (and diagnosis) is critical to prevent stroke. I'll be glad to talk to any of you about it if it might help you. (This may not be relevant right now, but diabetes is also prevelant in our family, and is inheritable, also.) My phone number is 806-799-1477. Thanks for keeping up the blog for all of us so we can keep up with you all. Sending good thoughts to all of you,
SeReatha Stephens

We hope to pay a visit soon. what a wonderful family and support group you all have! It is so good to hear of the progess that Gwen is making. Our love and best wishes for a wonderful 2009.
Keeping prayers going from Clovis.
Dear Gwen and family. What seems like a long time to us in an instant for our Lord. The most important thing is that HE is there and will guide each of you thru what HE wants to accomplish. Remember "Never Quit!" He is there and the prayers of your friends and family reminds HIM that we care also. He wants us to care, because HE Cares. We continue to pray for you everyday.
Love, Cousin Wayne and Carmen
I visited Gwen the other day and told her that as first borns we are always fighters. We do not give up, give in, go under. We always conquer whatever we must go through! I pray that all the kindness, goodness, and special prayers that Gwen has given out will come back to her many times multiplied. Ed, do you remember the many times that the doctors told us that Daddy would not improve and we might as well accept his condition? Well, you were there and witnessed the many times that he overcame. Yes, Gwen, you are a conquerer through Christ, God our Father, who created you, knows the areas that need to be restored. He will restore and even more so. Our prayers and our love.
